ABOUT SILENT FILM LIVE CONCERT
Silent film projection, produced in 1923, with electronic music performed live, composed and produced in 2009 – the combination creates an unusual mixture of enchanting masterpiece of silent filmmaking with modern beat. Thanks to contemporary soundtrack, all of the emotions presented within the film become even more intense: a child’s anger, grief after loss of a mother, joy of wedding guests, delightful beauty of alpine landscape – all of this is reflected in music. One can therefore hear touching, choral nocturn, highlander’s singing or spanish rythms heralding the vendetta. Solemn spirit and complicated dramaturgy of the film is inlayed with humoristic motives which make the 110 minute long projection very dynamic and colorful.
FACES OF CHILDREN - THE MOVIE
„Faces of Children“ (Visages d'enfants) directed by Jacques Feyder is a film admired straight from the very day of its premiere. Jean Mitry wrote in „The Oxford History of World Cinema“, that if he was to save just one film of all those belonging to French cinematography of the twenties it would certainly be Jacques Feyder’s „Faces of Children“. „Faces of Children“ is an outstanding example of realism in silent filmmaking as well as psychological dramaturgy integrated with the beautful, alpine Swiss landscape.
